Lodging

The closest available lodging is in Independence Kansas, there are three hotels on the west side. The Microtel will give a discount to festival attendees but there is also a Super 8 and a Knights Inn (closest).  They are about 28 miles via the ‘Independence shortcut’ (which includes 11 miles of gravel roads) or 38 miles by highway.

Camping at the festival: It is free and you are welcome anytime after 5 on Friday.

Please do not camp in the festival audience area or back stage.  There are people affiliated with the festival that do camp in these areas however.

There are no showers just port o potties but accommodations are made for campers to shower at the motel, see me for details.  There are no RV ‘hookups’ and if you want power it is very limited and you should arrive before 1 on Saturday, there are places throughout the 100+ acres and you can always ask. Use of generators is limited to between 10 am and 8 pm and when music is NOT playing.  Dogs are welcome.  You can camp along the creek in the parking area (visible from the stage) but once tickets begin being taken you will be directed to the area immediately north where there is more creek side camping.  Rain has been in the forecast every year for this festival and in 2007 it rained over a half inch before the festival and another quarter inch during the festival.  This is the only year we have had rain during the festival and we experienced no problems at the venue or for campers.
