Thanks for coming to the Chautauqua Hills Blues Festival website !!
Great News and congratulations for Eden Brent winning Acoustic Artist AND Album of the Year !! Magic's back from a great tour of Europe, and the world's abuzz over Jason Ricci. I don't know about nationally but around here everyone's stoked about The Insomniacs. It's going to be a great tour of the world of blues on Sunday starting with Midwest Blues, then heading east for some Piedmont Blues, then south for Mississippi Delta Blues, then West coast Swing Blues. Capping the show is the Real Deal of Chicago Blues and a true performer Jason Ricci who has agreed to also host the jam.
There aren't tickets for the Saturday afternoon show at the Kurtis Arts Plaza which is run in conjunction with a BBQ cook-off and Art Show, just pay as you enter. Come hungry and be prepared for some authentic blues and unforgettable performances. These guys dedication and talent amaze us. The Duo Sonics and Jim Adam are the best in the business. My good friends Ken, Willie and harpman Jordan of Acoustic Scratch are indispensable to this festival.
Have I mentioned how honored we feel about the Saturday night show? The 2009 International Blues Challenge Champion, Little Joe McLerran opens for the 2009 Acoustic Artist of the Year, Eden Brent. Yes, there are tickets still available, please call or e-mail very soon, the Gregg theater seats just 300.
Please go by any of our outlets or radio stations for a copy of the magazine with maps and a full schedule. If you need tickets e-mail or call we'll take care of you. Thanks to the local businesses and organizations for putting on all types of fun and food for the downtown shows on Saturday.
What's new or different this year is, with special thanks to the Kansas Arts Commission, improved camping, more facilities, parking and vending. Thanks to Terry Ricketts of Studio in the Hills for the great signs, and we have a lot! Campers only have to have an all session pass if they arrive on or before Saturday. Camping is still free and you can still bring grills and coolers. We do need everyone to camp in the north camp area - see camping page for aerial pictures and maps. The newly christened CQ Blues Stage has a permanent banner thanks to Tracy Smith and Cameron Williams. We continue to try to improve, let us know what you think!
